Tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m., licensed practical nurses and technicians are set to walk off the job and hit the pickets in protest against ACMH Hospital’s alleged unfair labor practices. The strike is being organized by the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals (PASNAP) and is expected to draw over 100 union members.
The labor unrest between ACMH administrators and PASNAP members began in June of this year after ACMH employees voted to be represented by the union. The parties have met for 25 bargaining sessions since then, but have yet to finalize a collective bargaining agreement.
In a statement, PASNAP ripped the hospital for its treatment of union members:
“ACMH should recognize and respect the dedicated Techs and LPNs who work tirelessly and under often-difficult conditions to care for their patients and their community, stop ignoring their concerns for patient safety, and stop making illegal and retaliatory changes to their working conditions,” Dahn said.
The next bargaining sessions between the parties are scheduled for early April. We will keep you posted as negotiations move forward.
