NLRB Obtains Temporary Injunction Against Missouri Hotel: Stephanie Ostrowski of Legal Newsline Legal Journal reports that a federal court granted the National Labor Relations Board's petition for a temporary injunction against the Northwest Airport Inn. As a result, the employer must reinstate two union employees fired after the company allegedly refused to negotiate with their union. The employer had contracted out their work.
UFCW Members Ratify Kroger Contracts: Susan R. Hobbs of Bloomberg BNA ($) writes that members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1529 ratified contracts with Kroger Co. in its Delta division.
The two 29-month contracts—one covering clerks and the other covering meat, seafood, and deli workers—also will provide ratification and length-of-service bonuses for employees in western Tennessee, Mississippi, eastern Arkansas, and Murray, Ky., Lonnie Sheppard, president of Memphis-based Local 1529, told BNA.
The contracts guarantee that employees will have no changes to their health care premiums.
NHL Lockout Continues: Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com writes that despite the lack of recent progress, the parties have not yet requested the assistance of a mediator to break the stalemate in the National Hockey League's labor talks. The players association had another conference call in which the players expressed that they want the NHLPA leadership back in the bargaining room with the NHL to determine if the league has any flexibility on the key issues.
